Yamabiko Taiko - “Yui” Connecting community and the world together through taiko performances Yamabiko means Mountain Echo and was founded in Kelowna, BC in 2003. The sounds of taiko resonates not just literally throughout the mountains but also figuratively as the “echo” reaches around the world and pays homage to Japan. The “echo” represents communication that transcends linguistic and cultural boundaries, ultimately sharing the rhythm of our hearts.
We will open with three short film clips produced by the Nelson Museum Archives and Gallery, local stories about our Japanese Canadian history.
The Nelson Izu-shi Friendship Society would also like to acknowledge the support received from the Japanese Canadian Legacy Society to put on this cultural event.
