The Capitol Theatre's 32nd Summer Youth Program AUDITIONS!
Audition for Peter and the Starcatcher!
Ages: 13-21 years old DEADLINE MAY 8TH!
Program runs June 29 through 26th, Monday to Friday, 9 am - 4 pm. Performance is July 23, 24, 25 at 7:30 pm and July 25 at 2 pm.
It’s certainly a very strange time for everyone, and we hope everyone is keeping well and are in good spirits. At the moment, the Capitol Theatre is planning to go ahead with the Summer Youth program in some form. It's important to us to keep the arts thriving in our community. We want to continue to provide a program that inspires and provides wonderful mentorship to young thespians. Help us keep the tradition alive!
We are, of course, playing close attention to everything that is happening and will be adjusting as needed if there are still protocols in place for social distancing that need to be followed.
We have a great show lined up this year: PETER & THE STARCATCHER, by Rick Elice. This 'play with music' won the Tony award for best play in 2012, and is a prequel to the events of Peter Pan, telling the origin story for Peter, Wendy, Tinker Bell, and others. The play is an ensemble piece with many speaking roles. For those who are curious, you can get a taste of the show . HERE
Our creative team this year is led by Adriana Bogaard (director and designer), Robyn Lamb (musical director), and Jesse Greenway (assistant director & designer).
Obviously, one thing we can’t do this year is in-person auditions. So, to adjust for social distancing, we’d like to invite all interested participants to submit a video audition.
The video should include: -a short excerpt from a song of your choice (2 min max) -a short piece of dialogue chosen from selected dialogue *PLEASE EMAIL OLIVIA FOR THESE PAGES* at obogaard93@gmail.com. (Please note: you can choose any piece you like, the character’s gender does not matter to your choice) -also, please fill out the form at . THIS LINK . You can fill out the form anytime, as long as I have it when the deadline arrives (so you could fill it out now and send your video later, for example).
You can send your video via dropbox, we-transfer, google drive, or any other method you’d like.
The deadline for this is Friday, May 8. You can send your video to adrianabogaard@gmail.com.
Please feel free to forward this information to anyone (siblings, friends, etc) that you think would like to audition this year! A reminder that the age range is 13-22. We are hoping to be able to review all the videos and cast the show by mid-May.
