SPOTLIGHT - Spring Break Intensive Ages 13-17

PROGRAM DATES: MARCH 17-21, 9am to 3pm PROGRAM FEE: $125 Maximum 15 participants

This is a week-long Spring Break performance creation camp for youth aged 13-18 with professional artist instructor Bessie Wapp.

This is a partner project with Trail's Charles Bailey Theatre! Both theatre's will be running SPOTLIGHT over Spring Break, culminating in a performance on the final day.

SPOTLIGHT is a theatre-based initiave to engage youth in a collaborative process of creating and performing their own works.

Camp participants will: Explore theatre games, mask, movement, breath and voice to develop performance skills and build group trust. Be introduced to a range of performance creation and stagecraft techniques to stimulate creativity and generate raw material from their own experience. Craft what's generated into meaningful, short performances. Rehearse their pieces and perform them at a public event on the evening of the final day.

Areas of focus will include: Movement (Yoga, Contact improv, Suzuki, Viewpoints) Voice (Richard Armstrong, Fitzmaurice, Singing) Acting (Improv games, mask, Commedia d'el Arte) Writing/play-building (Burning issues, Organizing principles, Writing prompts, Cut ups) Stagecraft (composition, lighting, projection, sound)
