A Powerful Evening of Indigenous Burlesque Art

Starring the reigning Queen of the New Orleans Burlesque Festival, a Montreal born performer with over a decade of burlesque performing experience. She has graced the stages of the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender in Las Vegas and is scheduled to headline countless shows and festivals in 2019, including RECLAIM right here in Nelson, BC. Join us in welcoming LouLou La Duchesse De Riere of the Kahwanake Mohawk Nation.

Also gracing our stages, from Vancouver, BC, this ensemble of performers are on a mission to reclaim Indigenous sexuality from the toxic effects of colonization. Through humour, seduction, pop culture and politics they will show that Indigenous women will not be confined to the colonial virgin-whore dichotomy but will design a new dynamic and multi-faceted sexual identity rooted in their own desires. They have been voted into the Top 50 of Burlesque by their peers, have performed at museums and on the news, headlined Burlesque Festivals and were given a standing ovation at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas in 2017. They are VIRAGO NATION!

Combined with local Indigenous community consisting of dancers, artists and elders, Deja Louve is curating an incomparable burlesque event. Purchase your tickets now for this empowering evening, right here in the Kootenays
