Segment II: Acting Out Stories Ages 8-12 years Instructor: Avi Phillips

THIS IS AN ONLINE PAYMENT OPTION FOR THIS PROGRAM. REGISTRANTS ALSO NEED TO CONTACT THE BOX OFFICE FOR REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND FORMS.

In Acting Out Stories young actors will discover and develop worlds, real and imagined, tell stories through movement and creative drama. They will learn to trust and support each other's ideas as they move into the world of focused theatre-making, developing improvisation skills, and establishing stage presence.

Based on a pilot project we ran last year, the Capitol Theatre is adding a community theatre acting program called Footlights Academy to our established community programming. Currently we offer community and youth engagement in live theatre through our Summer Youth Education program and the Christmas Pantomime. Footlights Academy will offer a mentorship opportunity for children, youth and adults to engae in learning theatre skills. The mentors are professional instructors and actors. This program introduces a new artistic experience to Nelson and area. We will have 10 participants per session. The program will take place on the Capitol Theatre stage and will culminate in a final showcase where actors share their new skills with each other.

Segment I "Acting Foundation for Kids" is for ages 6-8 years old and takes place in January, 2019.
